CardCase — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 8, 2026

CardCase ("the App") is a mobile application that scans business cards and organizes them into a personal directory. The App is published by JAHM Systems LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

In short: your directory lives on your device. Nothing is stored on our servers unless you subscribe to CardCase Pro and sign in, in which case your directory is backed up to your private cloud account. We show no ads, use no analytics or tracking tools, and never sell your data.

1. Data We Collect

Your directory

Cards you scan, import, or enter by hand — name, company, title, phone and fax numbers, email, website, address, social media handles, notes, category, and star rating — are stored locally on your device. The same applies to categories you create, saved card images (Pro), and files or photos you attach to a card (Pro).

Cloud backup (Pro, signed in only): if you have CardCase Pro and sign in, your cards, categories, card images, and attachments are also copied to our cloud storage so you can restore them on a new device. Free users and users who are not signed in never have their directory uploaded.

Images and documents sent for AI reading

When you scan a card, the photo (front, and back if you capture it) is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to read the contact details. When you import a PDF (Pro), the PDF is handled the same way. We do not keep these images or documents after the response is returned, except that a Pro user's saved card image is included in their cloud backup as described above. CSV and Excel imports are read entirely on your device.

Account information

An account is optional and only needed for cloud backup. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address (Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real one), a unique account identifier, and, depending on the provider, the name and profile picture link on your account. We use this only to create and secure your account — never for marketing.

Purchase information

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your payment details. To unlock Pro we receive and store your plan type, its start, renewal, and expiration dates, and the store's transaction identifier for your purchase, so that subscriptions can be verified and restored.

Scan counts

We count how many scans are made each month, linked to your account if you are signed in, to enforce the free plan's monthly limit and to prevent abuse of the service.

Device contacts

If you use "Import from Contacts," the App reads the contacts you select from your device's address book and copies them into your directory. Contacts are read on your device and are never uploaded on their own; once imported they are treated like any other card (including cloud backup, if you have it turned on). Contact access is optional and only happens when you start an import.

Camera and photos

The App uses the camera to scan cards and photograph documents you attach to a card, and your photo library to import card images and attach photos. These permissions are used only for those features.

Technical logs

Like most online services, our hosting provider records basic technical information when the App contacts our servers — such as the time of the request, your IP address, and any error that occurred. These logs are used only for security and troubleshooting and are kept for a short period.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

3. How We Use Data

4. Service Providers

We share data only with the providers that operate the App on our behalf, and only as needed for them to do so:

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to a successor if the App or our business is transferred, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your data.

5. Storage and Security

On your device, your directory is stored in the App's private database, and your sign-in session and subscription status are kept in your device's secure keychain (iOS) or encrypted storage (Android). All data sent between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). In the cloud, access rules restrict each account to its own data.

6. How Long We Keep Data

7. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data we hold about you. To make a request, email us at the address below and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

8. Children's Privacy

CardCase is designed for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Where Data Is Processed

We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using the App, you understand that your data may be processed outside your country of residence.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If we make a material change to how we handle your data, we will give notice in the App.
